The housing market remains exceptionally strong in 2003 according to the "Real Estate Report" published by the Charlotte area Chamber of Commerce. To quote the report, "Despite the run up in prices, there is no evidence of a housing bubble. Prices are up because inventories are low and demand remains strong." Plus, their forecast calls for the creation of between 16,000 and 20,000 new jobs this year. At the time of this publishing the unemployment rate is approximately in the 5% range.

Nearby communities and suburbs (some just across the SC border, as Charlotte is a border city) such as Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Tega Cay and others benefit immensely from the explosive growth of Charlotte.
